How to make a clinic appointment app with AI
A clinic appointment app matches a patient to a doctor's free slot and gives the front desk one list for the day. GrowApps builds it from a description of your doctors, their hours and your visit types, as a native iPhone and Android app with a web link for patients who will not install anything. Health data comes with legal duties, so read the limits below before you collect any.
The problem
What goes wrong without an app.
Patients call the front desk all morning to ask for a time, and the receptionist juggles three doctors' schedules on paper. The waiting room is packed at 11 and empty at 3. Patients forget their visit, and the doctor runs late because nobody knows who is next. You want patients to book a real free slot with the right doctor, and the desk to see the whole day at a glance.
What to include
The screens a clinic appointment app needs.
- A doctor list with specialty, languages, fee and working days
- A slot picker per doctor, with visit types of different lengths
- A short booking form: name, phone and the reason in a few words
- My appointments for the patient, with cancel and reschedule
- A front desk day view across all doctors: arrived, in the room, done
- A doctor view of today's patients in order
Try it yourself
A prompt you can paste into GrowApps.
This is a realistic starting prompt, not a placeholder. Change the names, numbers and details to your own before you use it.
Build an appointment app for Sunrise Dental Clinic in Hyderabad. Two dentists: Dr. Rao, Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm, and Dr. Fatima, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, 9am to 2pm. Visit types: consultation 20 minutes 500 rupees, cleaning 40 minutes 1,500 rupees, root canal follow up 30 minutes. Patients book with name, phone and a short reason, and can cancel up to 2 hours before. The front desk sees all of today's appointments and marks each patient as arrived, in the chair or done. Show the clinic address with a map link and a call button.
What GrowApps sets up
The parts you would otherwise wire up by hand.
Sign in for doctors and the desk
Doctors and front desk staff sign in with email and password. Patients book with a phone number, or make an account to see their own visits.
An appointments database
Doctors, visit types and bookings are stored in the cloud and checked against each other, so one slot cannot be booked twice.
Payments, only if you charge ahead
Most clinics take payment at the visit. For prepaid consultations, connect a Stripe payment link where Stripe is available.
Reminders
Patients see their appointment in the app. Automatic SMS or push reminders are not set up for you; ask in the chat what is possible for your clinic.
Honest limits
What a first build will not get right.
Doctors, visit types, real free slots and a front desk view are a normal first build. Medical records, prescriptions, lab results and video visits are a different kind of app. Health data is regulated in most countries (HIPAA in the US, the DPDP Act in India, the LGPD in Brazil, Law 151 of 2020 in Egypt), and following those rules is your responsibility. Keep the first version to booking details, and take advice before you store anything clinical.
Cost
How long it takes and what it costs.
About 4 credits and usually 10 to 20 minutes for the first build, once you approve the design. A one doctor clinic often needs little after that, and small changes such as hours or fees usually cost a fraction of a credit. Each extra doctor schedule or visit type rule costs more than a wording fix. Most of the time goes into booking test appointments and checking the day view, not into building.
The free plan gives 1 credit a day, up to 10 a month, with no card, which suits small changes. Standard is 20 US dollars a month for 20 credits, with a 7 day free trial (card required) and a first month of 15 dollars; a first build runs on that trial. Pro is 200 a month for 300 credits.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask before building a clinic appointment app.
Can patients choose their doctor?
Yes. Each doctor has their own days and visit types, and a patient only sees that doctor's free slots.
Can I keep medical records in the app?
GrowApps can build the screens, but health records bring legal duties in most countries. Start with booking details only, and check the rules where you work before you add anything clinical.
Can the front desk see a queue for the day?
Yes. A day view across all doctors, with arrived, in the room and done, is part of a normal first build.
Does it work for a single doctor?
Yes. Describe one doctor and your hours. You can add more doctors or a second branch later in the same chat.
Describe your clinic appointment app and see it built.
GrowApps plans it, builds it and gives you a live preview the same day.
