Use case

How to make a gym class booking app with AI

A gym class booking app shows the week's timetable, lets a member take one of a fixed number of places, and counts the classes they have paid for. GrowApps builds it from a description of your classes, rooms, coaches and packs. Members get a native iPhone and Android app, and coaches get a list to mark who came.

The problem

What goes wrong without an app.

Your 7am spinning class has 20 bikes and 26 people turn up. The evening yoga class runs half empty because nobody saw that it moved. The timetable is an Instagram post, attendance is a notebook, and class packs live in your head. You want members to take a place, see when a class is full, and use up a pack without you counting.

What to include

The screens a gym class booking app needs.

  • A weekly timetable filtered by class type, coach or time of day
  • A class page with places left, a Book button and a waitlist when full
  • My bookings, with cancelling allowed up to a set time before class
  • A class pack balance: 12 bought, 7 left, valid until a date
  • A coach check-in list to mark attendance
  • An admin screen to add classes, move times and post a change

Try it yourself

A prompt you can paste into GrowApps.

This is a realistic starting prompt, not a placeholder. Change the names, numbers and details to your own before you use it.

Build a class booking app for my studio, Nile Fit, in Cairo. Classes: spinning (20 bikes), yoga (15 mats) and CrossFit (12 places), each 50 minutes, on a weekly timetable I can edit. Members sign in, see the week and book a place. When a class is full they join a waitlist, and if someone cancels, the first person on the waitlist gets the place. Cancelling is allowed up to 3 hours before class. Members buy packs of 8 or 12 classes, priced in Egyptian pounds and valid for 30 days. Coaches see a check-in list for each class.

What GrowApps sets up

The parts you would otherwise wire up by hand.

Member sign-in

Members sign in with email and password, so bookings and pack balances follow them to a new phone.

Places and waitlists

Each class stores its limit, its bookings and its waitlist, and a new booking is checked against the limit when it is saved.

Paying for packs

Packs and memberships can be paid through a Stripe payment link you connect, where Stripe is available. Otherwise sell packs at the front desk and add them to the member in the admin screen.

Timetable changes

A change you save shows in every member's app straight away. Push notifications to a locked phone are not set up for you; ask in the chat what is possible for your app.

Honest limits

What a first build will not get right.

A timetable, class limits, bookings, cancellations and a coach check-in list are a normal first build. Automatic waitlist moves, late cancellation penalties and packs that expire need exact rules, so describe them precisely and test them with two or three fake members. Door access, wearable data and live streamed classes are outside a first build.

Cost

How long it takes and what it costs.

The first build uses about 4 credits and is usually ready 10 to 20 minutes after you approve the design. Moving a class or renaming a coach is a small change, usually a fraction of a credit. Waitlist moves, cancellation windows and expiring packs are bigger: each is a rule the agents build and test, so it costs more. Describe those rules in your first prompt and fewer rounds are needed later.

The free plan gives 1 credit a day, up to 10 a month, with no card, which suits small changes. Standard is 20 US dollars a month for 20 credits, with a 7 day free trial (card required) and a first month of 15 dollars; a first build runs on that trial. Pro is 200 a month for 300 credits.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask before building a gym class booking app.

Can members book a specific bike or mat?

Yes, if you ask. Most studios start with a simple count of places, then add a seat map for spinning as a follow up change.

What happens when a class is full?

The Book button becomes a waitlist. You decide in the prompt whether the first person waiting gets a freed place automatically or after you approve it.

Can I sell class packs and monthly memberships?

Yes. Describe both and the app tracks the balance per member. Taking card payments needs a payment link you connect, such as Stripe, where it is available in your country.

How is this different from a fitness tracking app?

This app is about places in a class. A fitness app is about members logging workouts and seeing progress. Many gyms combine both, and GrowApps has a separate guide for the fitness app.

Describe your gym class booking app and see it built.

GrowApps plans it, builds it and gives you a live preview the same day.
