Use case
How to make a shop inventory app with AI
An inventory app for a small shop keeps one true count of every product: what came in from a supplier, what went out in a sale, and what is running low. GrowApps builds it from a description of your products and how your shop works, as a native iPhone and Android app, so you and your staff update stock from the shop floor.
The problem
What goes wrong without an app.
You find out a best seller is gone when a customer asks for it. Stock lives in a notebook, a spreadsheet on one laptop and your memory. When a supplier calls, you cannot say how many you have without walking to the back. You want every item, how many are left and what to reorder, on your phone, with the same numbers on your staff's phones.
What to include
The screens a shop inventory app needs.
- A product list with search, category, cost price, selling price and quantity
- Stock in: record a supplier delivery, item by item
- Stock out: record a sale, a return or a damaged item, with a reason
- A low stock list with each item's reorder level
- A history per product: every change, who made it and when
- A monthly report: stock value at cost and the best sellers
Try it yourself
A prompt you can paste into GrowApps.
This is a realistic starting prompt, not a placeholder. Change the names, numbers and details to your own before you use it.
Build an inventory app for my mobile accessories shop, Speed Mobile, in Lucknow. Products have a name, category (cases, chargers, cables, earphones, screen guards), supplier, cost price and selling price in rupees, quantity and a reorder level. Staff sign in and record stock in from a supplier and stock out for a sale or damage. Show a low stock list of everything at or below its reorder level. Keep a history of every change with the staff member's name. Give me a monthly report of stock value at cost and the 10 best selling items.
What GrowApps sets up
The parts you would otherwise wire up by hand.
Staff accounts
You and your staff sign in with email and password, so every stock change has a name next to it.
A stock database
Products and every movement are stored in the cloud, so two phones counting the same shelf see the same number.
Product photos
Add a photo to each product from the phone camera, so new staff pick the right charger. Photos are stored in the cloud.
The low stock list
Items at or below their reorder level gather on one screen. Push alerts are not set up for you; ask in the chat what is possible for your app.
Honest limits
What a first build will not get right.
Products, stock in and out, a low stock list and a change history are a normal first build. Barcode scanning with the phone camera is a follow up; test it on your staff's phones with your real labels. Linking to a till, a GST or tax billing system or an online store so stock updates itself is a separate integration, and profit and loss belongs in accounting software, not here.
Cost
How long it takes and what it costs.
About 4 credits and usually 10 to 20 minutes for the first build, after you approve the design. Adding a category or a field is a small change, usually a fraction of a credit. Variants and barcode scanning are bigger additions because they change how every product is stored and counted, so describe your variants in the first prompt if you have them. Entering your products costs no credits: it is data, not building.
The free plan gives 1 credit a day, up to 10 a month, with no card, which suits small changes. Standard is 20 US dollars a month for 20 credits, with a 7 day free trial (card required) and a first month of 15 dollars; a first build runs on that trial. Pro is 200 a month for 300 credits.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask before building a shop inventory app.
Can I scan barcodes with my phone?
It can be added after the first build. Ask for camera barcode scanning once the product list works, and test it with your real labels.
Can several staff use it at the same time?
Yes. Stock is stored in the cloud, and a change on one phone shows on the others as soon as it is saved.
Will it make GST invoices or tax bills?
A simple sale record is part of a first build. Tax invoices follow local rules, so check them with your accountant, or keep your billing software for that part.
Can it handle sizes and colours?
Yes. Describe the variants, for example a phone case in three colours for five phone models, and each variant gets its own count.
Describe your shop inventory app and see it built.
GrowApps plans it, builds it and gives you a live preview the same day.
