Use case
How to make a loyalty card app with AI
A loyalty card app replaces the paper card. The customer shows their card, staff add a stamp or points, and the app keeps count of rewards. GrowApps builds it from a description of your reward rules, as a native iPhone and Android app and a web link. Print the link as a QR code at the counter, and a customer joins with their phone camera in under a minute.
The problem
What goes wrong without an app.
Paper stamp cards get lost in wallets, washed with jeans or stamped twice by a friendly cashier. You have no idea who your regulars are, or when one of them stopped coming. You want a card that lives on the customer's phone, a quick way for staff to add a stamp, and a list of who is close to a free coffee.
What to include
The screens a loyalty card app needs.
- A short sign up: name and phone number, quick enough at the counter
- The customer's card: stamps so far, rewards ready and a personal code
- A staff screen to find a customer by phone or code and add a stamp
- A redeem screen that gives the reward and resets the count
- An owner dashboard: stamps this week, rewards given, regulars who stopped coming
Try it yourself
A prompt you can paste into GrowApps.
This is a realistic starting prompt, not a placeholder. Change the names, numbers and details to your own before you use it.
Build a loyalty app for my coffee shop, Bean There, with two branches in Alexandria. Customers sign up with name and phone number. Every coffee earns one stamp, and 9 stamps give a free coffee. Staff sign in, find a customer by phone number or the code on their card, and add stamps. Customers see their card and how many stamps are left to a reward. Give me an owner dashboard with stamps per branch this month and a list of customers who have not visited in 30 days.
What GrowApps sets up
The parts you would otherwise wire up by hand.
Accounts for customers and staff
Customers sign in so their stamps follow them to a new phone. Only staff accounts can add stamps; customers cannot stamp their own card.
A stamps database
Every stamp and reward is saved with the time, the branch and the staff member, so a too generous cashier shows up in the numbers.
A QR code to join
Print the app link as a QR code for the counter. Customers scan it with the phone camera and sign up without an app store.
Payments, usually none
A stamp card needs no payments. If you add paid memberships later, connect a Stripe payment link where Stripe is available.
Honest limits
What a first build will not get right.
Sign up, a stamp card, a staff screen that adds stamps by phone number and an owner dashboard are a normal first build. Staff scanning the customer's code with the phone camera is a follow up change; test it on the phones your staff really use. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes, and stamps added automatically from your till, are separate integrations and much heavier.
Cost
How long it takes and what it costs.
A loyalty app is one of the smaller builds: about 4 credits, and usually 10 to 20 minutes after you approve the design. Changing the reward rule, for example from 9 stamps to 8, is a small change that usually costs a fraction of a credit. Code scanning and branch reports are bigger additions. On Standard, the first build leaves 16 of the month's 20 credits.
The free plan gives 1 credit a day, up to 10 a month, with no card, which suits small changes. Standard is 20 US dollars a month for 20 credits, with a 7 day free trial (card required) and a first month of 15 dollars; a first build runs on that trial. Pro is 200 a month for 300 credits.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask before building a loyalty card app.
Do customers need to download an app?
No. They can use the web link, and add it to their home screen. Customers who prefer an app get the same card on iPhone and Android.
How do staff add a stamp?
In the first build, staff find the customer by phone number or code and tap Add stamp. Scanning a code on the customer's phone can be added as a follow up.
Can I give points instead of stamps?
Yes. Describe the rule, for example 1 point per 10 pounds spent and a reward at 100 points, and staff enter the amount spent instead of tapping a stamp.
Can one card work across several branches?
Yes. Stamps can count across branches, and the owner dashboard can split them by branch.
